COSMELAN

Cosmelan is a professional depigmentation treatment which has an intensive corrective effect on skin hyper-pigmentations whilst regulating the overproduction of melanin in the melanocytes, inhibiting, and controlling the appearance of new dark spots.

COSMELAN – DEPIGMENTATION TREATMENT

A Cosmelan depigmentation treatment is most effective in reducing the appearance of pigmented and uneven skin tone resulting from Melasma, acne scaring and other skin pigmentation. Cosmelan reduces and eliminates acquired skin blemishes of melanin origin, increasing skin luminosity and equalising skin tone. The Cosmelan pack provides an effective combination of professional treatment (in – clinic) and at home maintenance cream.

Application of Cosmelan inhibits the melanogenesis process paralysing melanin production for a long period of time during which corneum stratum flaking plus the action of the macrophagic cells taking the melanin deposits with them. In efficacy is based on its double of action that on the one part has the corrective effect, eliminating the hyperpigmentation and, on the other, a regulating effect, controlling the overproduction of melanin and is the way of preventing the appearance of new spots in the long term.

More than a treatment, Cosmelan is a complete method that involves a single session, which can be performed at beauty clinics and a home maintenance treatment. The treat-ment entails the professional applying the Cosmelan 1 Face Mask which is then left to work for 8 to 12 hours, according to the phototype and sensitivity of the skin to be treated. After this time has elapsed the mask is removed at home. 48 hours later, the follow-up phase in your home is started with the application of the Cosmelan 2, Hydra-vital factor K cream and the moisturizing sun protection SPF 50+. This follow-up phase is carried out for 7 months to achieve an optimal result and prevent the reappearance of spots.

You should avoid any potentially irritating skincare products at least 3 days prior to your treatment. You should then avoid intensive UV exposure and artificial exposure for at least 2 weeks after your procedure. It is important that you use a high-level broad spectrum UVB|UVA sun protectant daily during this period, even in winter and on cloudy days.

DermaQuest Skin Peels are generally applied more than once for best results. The minimum number of treatments tends to be 2-3 sessions. This allows treating condi-tions in deeper layers of the skin. More severe problems, such as acne scarring or deep wrinkles, may require more treatments to get best results. Your therapist will tailor a treatment plan specifically for you and determine how many treatments you need and how often.

DermaQuest Resurfacers can be performed in a series of 6 treatments, scheduled 1-2 weeks apart, and twice a year. Chemical peels, can be performed in a series of 3 treatments, scheduled 3-4 weeks apart, one or two times a year.

Reversible inhibition of tyrosinase activity

Inhibition of the tyrosinase is only activated during treatment application. When finished, the enzyme recovers its activity producing new melanin, particularly if there is solar stimulus. Due to this, application of topical depigmentants must be reiterative to obtain results.

Inhibitor action without damaging melanocyte

Under no circumstance does tyrosinase inhibition make the melanocytes disappear, but simply paralyses or stops melanin production, without risk of white blemishes appearing. Cosmelan action causes complementary inhibition of other enzymes involved in the eumelanin production process, like dopa tautomerase, among others.
